Seychelles President Michel visits Confucius Classroom at University of Seychelles

On July 10 local time, James Michel, President of the Seychelles, visited the Confucius Classroom at the University of Seychelles, and was warmly received by Sherley, the local director of the Confucius Classroom, and Chinese language teachers. The president listened to the report by Director Sherley on the current development status and future plan of the Confucius Classroom, and cordially inquired about the teachers’ life and work. He said that he was content with the achievements of the Confucius Classroom and expressed thanks to the Confucius Classroom for its outstanding contributions to language and cultural exchanges between China and the Seychelles.

The Confucius Classroom presented a calligraphic work of the pictographic Chinese character “sheep” as a gift to the president. A Chinese language teacher told President Michel that this year marks the Year of the Sheep in China, and the sheep was a symbol of peace, beauty, elegance and purity in ancient China.
