Dr. Lu Hong from Confucius Institute for Business London (CIBL) at LSE wins “Most Excellent Order of the British Empire”
On June 12, 2015, Dr. Lu Hong, Executive Director of the Confucius Institute for Business London (CIBL) at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) was awarded the “Most Excellent Order of the British Empire” by the Queen, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to promoting China-U.K. cultural exchanges.
As is reported by British media, based on the nominations by the British Prime Minister, every year on her official birthday, the Queen confers medals of honor upon people from various fields to recognize their outstanding contributions. It is learned that Dr. Lu Hong is the only Chinese to receive this honor this time. Since 2007, Dr. Lu Hong has devoted herself to teaching business Chinese and promoting Chinese business culture at the CIBL and has achieved significant accomplishments in designing business Chinese curriculum, developing teaching materials and popularizing Chinese culture, etc. It is reported that a total number of over 3,000 people have taken the business Chinese courses at the CIBL and over 10,000 people have participated in various events on Chinese culture hosted by the Institute. In 2014, the CIBL was honored with title of “Confucius Institute of the Year” by Confucius Institute Headquarters.
In her acceptance speech, Dr. Lu Hong said, “I am so honored to be awarded this medal of honor by Her Majesty The Queen. To me, this is not only an honor conferred upon me by the British Government and Her Majesty The Queen, but also their high recognition of the important role of the Confucius Institute in promoting China-U.K. language and culture exchange.”
