On June 26th, Mr. Wang Yongli, Deputy Director General of Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban), and his entourage visited the Confucius Institute at the University of Incheon.

Nam Ho-Ki, Vice-President of the University of Incheon extended his warm welcome to Mr. Wang Yongli and his entourage. He said that the Confucius Institute at the University of Incheon has made remarkable achievements in Chinese language education, teacher training and scholarship assignment, and the colorful events held by the Confucius Institute gave teachers, students and local residents in Incheon a taste of Chinese culture. Mr. Wang Yongli expressed his gratitude to the University of Incheon for its support to the Confucius Institute and promised that Hanban will continue to promote the development of the Confucius Institute and make it a model of quality and efficiency.

Then, Mr. Wang Yongli listened to the work report by Xu Zhi, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute, and Kim Ho, South Korean Director of the Institute. Mr. Xu Zhi presented a detailed report on the development of the Institute in the last five years, including Chinese language teaching, cultural events, teaching facilities, enrollment situation, the Institute’s influence in Incheon, and its regulation and institution. As pointed out by Xu Zhi, after more than five years of rapid development, the Confucius Institute at the University of Incheon will continue to strengthen the “Schools-Institute”, “Corporations-Institute”, and “Government Organizations-Institute” joint module of cooperative development and extend this into China-South Korea cultural exchange, Chinese language teaching and other fields, so as to achieve greater influence over local communities.

Mr. Wang Yongli fully approved the achievements by the Confucius Institute in promoting Chinese language and culture, and he hoped that the staff of the Institute would continue their endeavors to make their contributions to popularizing Chinese language and culture.
