The University of Arizona granted the

Award for Excellence to Dr. Lang Xiaoming from the Confucius Institute for his remarkable contribution to promoting communication between Chinese and American culture.

“He is a master who builds a bridge connecting different cultures by means of music”, said Dr. Janet Sturman, Associate Dean of Graduate School of the University of Arizona. Dr. Lang devoted himself to integrating classical Chinese musical works into mainstream art of the US. Thanks to his efforts, the Confucius Institute has performed the Dream of the Red Chamber Suite with Arizona Symphony Orchestra, the Dance of the Yi People and Prince Qin Breaking through the Enemy Array with Chandler Symphony Orchestra, and modern dances including the Butterfly lovers, the Yellow River, and the Chrysanthemums Terrace with the ADP Studios and UA Dance Ensemble.
