On May 1, the famous Italian newspaper Milano Finanza (International Version) released a list of 100 people making outstanding contributions to China-Italy relations. Federico Masini and Zhang Hong, directors of the Confucius Institute at University of Rome La Sapienza, were both on the list.

Since its establishment in 2006, the Confucius Institute at University of Rome La Sapienza has committed itself to promoting Chinese language and culture in the region of Lazio (where Rome is located) and the south central region of Italy. In recent years, as the Confucius Institute’s growth accelerates, it has played a significant role in bringing closer the relations between China and Italy in areas such as education, cultural popularization and social influence.
