From March 30th to April 2nd, the 52nd Bologna Children’s Book Fair was held at the Bologna Exhibition Center in Italy. It was the first time that the Confucius Institute at University of Rome La Sapienza participated in the world’s largest exhibition of children’s publications. The fair exhibited hundreds of international Chinese teaching books and materials for children as well as a introduction to the Digital Library.

Ms. Zhang Hong, Director of the Confucius Institute, brought the bilingual version of Confucius Institute journal in Chinese and Italian to the fair, which attracted many children’s publishers from both China and Italy. More than ten Italian publishers, libraries, book-collection agencies and writers further discussed with Director Zhang about multiple forms of cooperation such as contributing articles to the Italian version of the journal. Besides, publishers from China, the UK and the US visited the exhibition area of the Confucius Institute and inquired about children’s books on Chinese teaching as a foreign language.

It is important to note that, the China Children’s Press & Publication Group has decided to donate all the books exhibited on the fair to the Confucius Institute at University of Rome La Sapienza and the Confucius Institute at the University of Bologna. The donation ceremony was held on the afternoon of April 1st during the press briefing session of the book fair.
