Confucius Institute in Russia and the Israeli Consulate Jointly Hosted the “Eternal Culture” Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition

On April 2nd, the Israeli Consulate in Novosibirsk invited the Confucius Institute at Novosibirsk State University of Technology to co-host the “Eternal Civilization” Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition together in Novosibirsk State Art Museum, to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Allies' victory in World War II as well as the friendship China and Israel forged with flesh and blood during the war.

Over 200 people attended the opening ceremony, including Director of Foreign Affairs Office of the Novosibirsk state, Director of Education Bureau, Consul-General and cultural officers of Israeli Consulate, Consuls of various countries in Novosibirsk, university scholars, local Chinese language teachers and Chinese culture fans. The curator of the Art Museum acted as the ceremony host. Director of Foreign Affairs Office of the Novosibirsk state expressed his hope that the Confucius Institute, Israeli Consulate and cultural institutions of all other countries should initiate more activities like this in the future to make more contributions to cultural exchange among different countries in the world.

The works of Israel were provided by Famous Israeli contemporary calligraphers. Paintings of the Confucius Institute were created by its students, while calligraphic pieces were provided by Hanban and its Chinese partner universities. These paintings exquisitely and vividly showed the connotation of Chinese paintings. All the paintings conveyed a fine combination of form and spirit, and won praises from the audience, many of who took photos in front of their beloved works.

To match up with the Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition, the Confucius Institute set up a Chinese Culture Experience Area, where aroma of Chinese green tea floated in the Tea Art Area, good penmanship were exhibited in the Calligraphy Area, and melodious musical sounds resonated in the Guzheng (a traditional Chinese music instrument) Area. This Chinese Culture Experience Area provided opportunities for the audience and guests to experience the richness deposit of Chinese culture.

Russian Directors of the Confucius Institute Taking an Interview with the State Television Station

Four TV stations including Israel Broadcasting Authority, Novosibirsk State РБГ and a newspaper reported the whole opening ceremony and conducted interview. Both Chinese and Russian Directors of the Confucius Institute was interviewed by Novosibirsk State РБГ TV Station. After the opening ceremony, cultural institutions of France, Germany and other countries in Novosibirsk expressed their intentions of further cooperation to the Directors of the Confucius Institute. They hoped that they could host cultural activities with the Confucius Institute together.
