In the training program, keynote speakers covered important topics in the field of teaching methodology and teaching skills, such as organizing creative activities in class, using electronic teaching materials complied by the Confucius Institute, designing classroom games and role plays. They also asked the teacher and volunteer trainees to share their own teaching experience.

The training program is the second one in this academic year. Every year, when new teachers assume their posts, CISS offers a week-long pre-job training program to them. Then, it will also be held once in each of the three semesters. This program aims to ensure better Chinese language teaching by assisting teachers to use more teaching methods and promoting their understanding of the characteristic educational system of Scotland.
