Sponsored by the University of Lagos, the Fourth “Chinese Bridge” Competition of Chinese Proficiency for university, secondary school and elementary school came to an end on March 13th. Nearly 100 contestants registered for this competition.

The competition was composed of three modules, i.e., knowledge about China, Chinese songs and Chinese dances. The “Chinese Wave” team of ten Nigerian students of Chinese major in Confucius Institute at University of Abomey-Calavi competed fiercely for a whole day on behalf of the University of Abomey-Calavi.

The second-year Igbinadolor Emmanuel and first-year Akinyemi Témitope Oluwaseun brought the song Meet at Aobao. Their clear articulation and touching performance appealed to the judges and audience and as a result earned the highest score in the round of Chinese songs. In the dance Uygur Girls led by Akinyemi Témitope Oluwaseun, the dancers raised their brows, moved eyes, swayed heads, clapped hands and snapped fingers, which fully displayed their soft womanly figures. Their graceful posture and beautiful smile brought the performance of the team “Chinese Wave” to a successful end. After the fierce competition, “Chinese Wave” won the championship for the university students’ group in this year’s “Chinese Bridge” Competition.
