On March 4, No. 68 Secondary School in Bishkek, a teaching site of the Confucius Institute at Kyrgyz National University, held a culture exhibition “Happy Chinese Lantern Festival”, which brought down the curtain on “Happy Chinese New Year” serial activities of this school. The activity included a photo exhibition, a lecture on Chinese customs and tasting “yuanxiao” (sweet dumplings). About 200 people participated in this activity.

In addition to pictures that introduced the customs of Chinese Lantern Festival, the exhibition on that day also included handiworks made by students with the theme “China in My Eyes”. During the lecture, the teacher explained the customs of the Lantern Festival, and students showed strong interest in lantern shows and guessing lantern riddles. In the end, all the participants boiled and ate sweet dumplings in the school canteen, and teachers and students were full of praise for this food.

After the activity, students all expressed their wishes to go to China and experience the joyous atmosphere of Chinese New Year in person. They also welcomed more interesting and meaningful activities like this in the future.
