On November 10th, 2014, the week-long photo exhibition titled “My Name Is Wuxi” was officially inaugurated at the Cultural and Convention Center at the Middle East Technological University (METU) in Ankara, the capital city of Turkey.

This photo exhibition was one of the series of events for Confucius Institute Day, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Confucius Institute. A total of around 50 photos were displayed in four categories: city glamour, serene mountains and rivers, everlasting charm of Jiangsu, and happy homeland.

According to Mr. Wu Changqing, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at METU, this photo exhibition was the closing ceremony of the series of events for Confucius Institute Day, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Confucius Institute. This event would help friends in Turkey know more about the unique charm of Wuxi, a city in Southern China, which is refreshing, exquisite and delicate, radiating its special beauty like the traditional Turkish paper marbling.

Melva, a student learning Chinese as an optional course at METU, said to our reporter, “My friends and I come to the exhibition together, and we love the photos very much. This is a good opportunity for us who are learning the language to know more about Chinese culture. I hope that I will have a chance to visit China in the future to appreciate the new development of China.”
