On July 6, 2014, local time, the 101st Tour de France, which departed from Leeds, finished its second stage at Sheffield in the UK. On the invitation of Sheffield City Council, the Confucius Institute at the University of Sheffield joined in the celebration activities of Tour de France Cultural Festival in the Peace Gardens at the city centre of Sheffield. During the festival, the Confucius Institute set up three areas showcasing different aspects of Chinese culture: a Chinese traditional costume exhibition area, a Chinese word puzzle games area, and a Chinese ink painting and calligraphy exhibition area. These areas brought to the event a special taste of the oriental style and a fabulous show of Chinese language and culture, which captured the attention of many visitors.
