Delegation of World Chinese Language Association visits Confucius Institute Headquarters
On August 26, a delegation of the World Chinese Language Association paid a visit to the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban). Mr. Dong Pengcheng, President of the World Chinese Language Association, Mr. Renhong, Consultant of the World Chinese Language Association, Prof. Zhang Xinren, President of National Taipei University of Education and other 39 teachers from over 30 universities in Taiwan enthusiastically took a tour of the China Exploratorium, the Exhibition of Achievements of Confucius Institutes and the Exhibition of Chinese Language Teaching Resources, and exchanged views with the heads of different divisions of the Confucius Institute Headquarters.
At the meeting, Mr. Ma Jianfei, Deputy Chief Executive of Confucius Institute Headquarters, Deputy Director General of Hanban and Vice President and Secretary General of the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching, reported to the delegation on the accomplishments of Confucius Institutes over the past ten years, and Mr. Dong Pengcheng introduced the recent development of the World Chinese Language Association and that of Chinese language teaching in Taiwan. Both sides exchanged experience in such areas as the standard and training of Chinese language teachers, the development of syllabus and teaching materials, the building of Internet-based resource platforms and Chinese language tests and discussed the possible cooperation fields and approaches. Both sides agreed that they need to strengthen the communication and innovate the cooperation mechanism so as to jointly promote Chinese language and culture worldwide.
