Chinese Language Teaching Video Program Ni hao, PUCP Launched

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Confucius Institute and the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the Confucius Institute at Catholic University of Peru (Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP)), the Confucius Institute and the TV Station of PUCP jointly launched a weekly Chinese language teaching video program Ni hao, PUCP!, which had its premiere at 3 pm, August 19 local time on the university’s website.

Under the supervision of both Chinese and Peru directors of the Confucius Institute at PUCP and after many discussions among Chinese teachers of the Institute, themes and content of the program Nihao, PUCP! are chosen. This program is co-hosted by Chinese teachers Ms. Xie Fangfang and Pan Lingyan in Spanish. This video series includes 16 lectures, dealing with topics of pronunciation, greetings, nationality, numbers, cuisine, dates, festivals, etc., and incorporating language and culture in each lecture.

During the recording, the director and the film crew of TVPUCP provided the two Chinese teachers with different props and created interesting scenarios for different themes. The TV series mainly take vivid and interesting forms of lecturing, role playing, situational dialogues and so on, to convey knowledge of the Chinese language and culture.

The Chinese teaching video program Ni hao, PUCP! provides a wider range of learners and lovers of the Chinese language and culture with a more convenient way of learning by breaking away from traditional classroom teaching and bringing the teaching online. At the same time, as the first online Chinese language teaching video series in PUCP and also in Peru, Ni hao, PUCP! not just filled the gap in the Chinese teaching video programs in Peru, but also extended the influence of Chinese language teaching.
