Mr. Wan Gang visits the Confucius Institute at Eötvös Loránd University
On August 12, Mr. Wan Gang, Vice-Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and Minister of Science and Technology, paid a visit to the Confucius Institute at Eötvös Loránd University in company with Mr. Xiao Qian, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Hungary. Mr. Barna Mezey, Rector of Eötvös Loránd University, warmly welcomed Mr. Wan and the delegation led by him.

Both sides exchanged views on the status quo and the future development of the Confucius Institute at a meeting. Mr. Mezey said that thanks to the great support of Hanban, the Confucius Institute at Eötvös Loránd University has made great achievements in Chinese language teaching and promotion of Chinese culture, and he added that Mr. Wan’s visit marked the beginning of Eötvös Loránd University’s further cooperation with Chinese universities. Mr. Wan praised Hungary’s remarkable accomplishments in science and technology, and then expressed his hope that the Confucius Institute would facilitate exchanges and cooperation between China and Hungary.

After the meeting, both sides exchanged gifts. The Confucius Institute at Eötvös Loránd University presented to Mr. Wan a logo of Confucius Institute knitted with Chinese knots, and Mr. Wan to the Confucius Institute a work of Chinese calligraphy.
