The Chinese-Spanish “Confucius Institute” magazine has received the Cope Award by the city of Valencia’s government

The third edition of the Cope Awards was held on June the 5th in the city of Valencia. The awards are aimed to distinguish those organizations or people who have made an important contribution to the promotion of Valencia’s development. Confucius Institute, the Chinese-Spanish magazine published by the Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban and the Confucius Institute at University of Valencia, was given the “Cultural award” in recognition of the continuous great efforts in the promotion of the cultural understanding between China and Spain.

The ceremony, attended by Alberto Fabra, the president of the Community of Valencia; Rita Barbera, mayor of Valencia; Carlos Osor, Valencia’s archbishop; important government officials, as well as several leading figures of the areas of culture, enterprise, education sportsand etc.

This year, the Cope Awards offered more than ten categories, including tourism, education, health, culture, environment and new technologies among others. Together with the Chinese-Spanish “Confucius Institute” magazine, other personalities and organizations to receive these awards were Valencia’s Mayor Ms. Rita Barbera, Valencia’s basketball team for its popularity and Valencia’s Junta Central Fallera for its dedication to the promotion of tourism.

The Cope Awards were established in May 2012. Cope, founded in the 80’s, is one of the most important Spanish radio stations, and so far has become mainstream media.
