On the afternoon of January 28 Paris time, right before the Chinese Lunar New Year of the Horse, the Confucius Institute at Paris Diderot University held new-year-related celebratory cultural activities, which attracted over 200 people, including the students and teachers from the Confucius Institute as well as friends and guests from Paris.

Opening Show - Lion Dance

The celebration started with speeches of new-year greetings and wishes from Vice President of Paris Diderot University Madam Bricout and French and Chinese Directors of the Confucius Institute at Paris Diderot University Mr. Gilles and Mr. Zhou Hanbin, followed by a spectacular opening lion dance and a Wushu performance brought by the Lion Dance Team of the Chinese Baimei Boxing House in Paris. All the team members are young French men with great fondness for Chinese Wushu and culture, and hence they set up a Chinese boxing house to promote Wushu and its culture in Paris.

A joyous and lively scene

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, the students from the Confucius Institute at Paris Diderot University, old and new, gathered together to participate in the Chinese language games (for instance, lantern riddles and tongue twisters) specially prepared for them and other Chinese culture lovers by the teachers from the Confucius Institute. They exchanged views on and experience of how to learn Chinese, and their discussions heated the get-together up. In the end, everyone merrily enjoyed a Lunar New Year’s Eve Feast by Chinese tradition.
