Confucius Institute in Islamabad celebrate the Lantern Festival & Chinese New Year

On February 14 is Chinese Lantern Festival, the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan and Confucius Institute in Islamabad jointly organized the " Happy New Year " event at the Pakistan National Council of Arts. Chinese Embassy cultural counselor Mr. Zhang Yingbao , teachers from Confucius Institute in Islamabad(CII), and various partner school s of CII, Pakistani friends from various fields, more than 500 people attended the function.

Counselor Mr. Zhang Yingbao gave the welcoming address, firstly introducing the Chinese New Year customs and culture, and thanked everyone for the great contribution to the cultural exchange between China and Pakistan. Mr. Zhang Yingbao looked forward to greater achievements in the New Year of the Horse in Pakistan cultural exchanges and cooperation. He thanked the efforts of Confucius Institute in Islamabad who organized the event, and made a great contribution in spreading Chinese language and culture in Pakistan. Mr. Zhang Yingbao wished everyone Happy New Year and Happy Lantern Festival!

Subsequently, content-rich cultural programs were showed by Pakistani and Chinese. Dr. Zhang Daojian, vice-president of the Confucius Institute in Islamabad introduced the performances of the event mostly coming from the Confucius Institute in Islamabad. Including the National University of Modern Languages students and City school, Lynx School, Science school, Roots schools and other primary and secondary schools. Dr. Zhang said that this event will not only provide the opportunity for children to showcase Chinese learning outcomes, but also let the students and parents to understand and appreciate enriched Chinese culture, vividly putting the Chinese New Year culture into the hearts of Pakistanis. Fluent Chinese, touching songs, wonderful dance won the audience applause. Students showed Pakistani wedding ceremony “Henna Dance “which put the whole show to a climax.

The event finished with the cheerful song “Dil Dil Pakistan”, all the performers, the teachers from Confucius Institute, students and partner institutions and Counselor Mr.Zhang Yingbao took a group photo together.

So far, the Chinese embassy in Pakistan and Confucius Institute in Islamabad has successfully organized two "Happy New Year” activities. Brilliant show, warm and cheerful atmosphere, warm and sincere greeting to everyone left a deep impression on everyone. Immersed in the cheerful atmosphere they wished China-Pakistan friendship would last forever.
