The day of Thursday (September 19, 2013) was China's traditional festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival. The celebration held by the Confucius Classroom at Novosibirsk State University (NSU) in Russia started at 6 p.m., attracting more than 50 people.

Prof. Asimai Niyazi, Chinese director of the Confucius Classroom at Novosibirsk State University, along with Kuchnova Maria Andreevna, Russian deputy director, addressed the opening ceremony and expressed their greetings to all guests present. Chinese volunteer Gao Lei introduced the customs and traditions of the Mid-Autumn Festival to all Russian students and invited the guests to taste the green tea and moon cakes especially brought from China for the occasion. The Chinese teachers and volunteers of the Confucius Classroom, as well as the Russian students, presented splendid performances, making the whole Confucius Classroom filled with festive mood.

More than 50 people participated in the activity, and most of them were students from the Department of Humanities and the Department of Foreign Languages of NSU, enthusiasts of Chinese language from Confucius Classroom as well as students from Foreign Language School of Xinjiang University who were studying at Novosibirsk State University.

This Mid-Autumn Festival party, organized by the Confucius Classroom at Novosibirsk State University, was a great success. The Chinese director of the Confucius Classroom, Prof. Asimai Niyazi, and all other teachers were engaged in meticulous preparations from early September, rehearsing Chinese traditional performances in their spare time. They also taught Chinese songs to Russian students. The celebration party lasted for about two hours this year. The Russian students, who participated in the festival, felt reluctant to leave and showed their strong interest in Chinese culture. This year's Mid-Autumn Festival party impressed them deeply and they hoped for more events in the future. Furthermore, the event also made both Chinese teachers and students feel like home.
