Confucius Institute at Antananarivo University Makes Their Presence Felt at the Local “Culture Week”

Antananarivo, May 16th, 2013- The “Culture Week” sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Heritage of Madagascar opened in Tananariveo, the capital city of Madagascar. As the only educational institution that was invited to participate in the exhibition, the Confucius Institute at Antananarivo University showed itself at the “Culture Week”.

At invitation, the teachers and students of the Confucius Institute at Antananarivo University gave a performance at the opening ceremony on the evening of May 16th. In the 20 minutes show time, teachers and students of the Confucius Institute gave five performances including traditional Chinese dance, musical instruments and martial arts, etc. The wonderful performances won warm applause from all audience members.

After the opening ceremony, Ravelomanantsoa Elia, Minister of Culture and Heritage of Madagascar, along with the diplomatic envoys of some countries in Madagascar, visited the booth of the Confucius Institute. Minister Elia expressed special thanks to the Confucius Institute for participating in the “Culture Week”.

With the dominant hue of red, the booth of Confucius Institute arranged a photo exhibition with the theme of the 40th anniversary of China - Madagascar diplomatic ties, the exhibition of Chinese language teaching materials, and the exhibition of Chinese cultural items. During the “Culture Week”, the booth of Confucius Institute also organized a tea art show to reveal Chinese tea culture.

In July 2012, the Ministry of Culture and Heritage of Madagascar reached a consensus with the Confucius Institute at Antananarivo University to promote cultural exchanges between China and Madagascar jointly.
