On the early morning of April 10th, one of the Opening Days of METU (Middle East Technical University) Confucius Institute, the principal of Ankara Inci School with his delegation of over 40 students and teachers came to visit the Confucius Institute. The school, with a native Chinese teacher, has offered Chinese courses to 10 classes for more than 2 years and they have been seeking the chances of visiting our Confucius Institute (CI).

The CI teachers have made an elaborate activity preparation for students. First of all, one of CI teachers gave the delegation a brief introduction to China and Confucius Institute in a large classroom, and afterwards, they organized the students to participate in the prize-winning quiz about Chinese culture and Chinese language. The students competed with great enthusiasm, which brought this activity into its climax.

During culture-experiencing activities, students showed a great interest in all kinds of stuff typical of Chinese style. Some were fascinated with Beijing Opera facial masks, some with Huarong Road Games and Panda dolls, and some even started to play Chinese chess on the site. Additionally, the students experienced Chinese calligraphy, paper-cutting, shuttlecock playing and bean picking up with chopsticks in curiosity, and quite a few students wearing Chinese traditional costumes posed for photos. At 12 o’clock, which was supposed to be the end of this activity, they had to leave with great reluctance.

Students not only practiced their Chinese, but also experienced Chinese culture through this activity, so they all expected to come back to Confucius Institute again. The CI Director welcomed the delegation warmly and discussed Chinese teaching and teacher training with Principal of Inci School, who, satisfied with this activity, expressed his sincere hope for a long-term cooperation with Confucius Institute.
