Examination Site 1 of HSKK

HSKK is the abbreviation for “Hanyu Shuiping Kouyu Kaoshi” (an oral Chinese proficiency test), which is an international Chinese proficiency standardized test with a focus on evaluating the ability of examinees learning Chinese as a foreign language to communicate in Chinese in their life, study and work, and is also an important basis for foreign students to apply for studying in China. The HSKK consists of elementary, intermediate and advanced levels. The Confucius Institute at University of Abomey-Calavi held the HSKK (elementary level) this time.

Examination Site 2 of HSKK

Since the Confucius Institute at University of Abomey-Calavi, that held the HSKK, succeeded in applying for the HSK test center from Hanban in 2010, they holds two globally uniform standard HSK tests (the abbreviation of “Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi”) every year. However, the HSKK has higher requirements for test center, equipments and other external conditions. The live recording of students’ answers is required. Though this HSKK test was independent, the organization form of the test was exactly the same as that of the standard HSKK test. There were three examination sites arranged for the test. Students took turns to take the examination and live recordings were taken. In order to solve the problem of insufficient voice recording equipment, some teachers used their own laptops and mobile phones to record. The test questions were cited from the HSKK simulated tests of Hanban. The test questions of oral test at elementary level consist of three parts, repeating after listening, answering after listening, and answering questions. The full mark is 100, and it takes about 17 minutes for every examinee to complete his/her test.

Examination Site 3 of HSKK

Since the examinees had learnt Chinese for different periods of time, the level of examinees taking this HSKK test was uneven. Some examinees had learnt Chinese for two years, so it was easier for them to take the examination; and some examinees had just learnt Chinese for less than half a year, so the test was a little difficult for them. The grade of this HSKK test was evaluated by the examining teachers of the Confucius Institute at University of Abomey-Calavi, and the grade given will be an important factor for examinees to apply for the Confucius Institute scholarship.
