CIUA sponsors Sino-Malagasy cultural exchange performance

On January 16, 2013, the faculty members and students of Confucius Institute at University of Antananarivo (CIUA) shared a performance with a visiting teachers’ art troupe from Tianjin. Chinese Ambassador to Madagascar Shen Yongxiang and his wife, together with Counselor Wang Xiangyang and the women’s group of Chinese embassy in Madagascar were invited to the performance.

The performance started with a local folk dance performed by the students of CIUA. The visiting Chinese art troupe presented Taiji, Tibetan dance, and Chinese songs Longwen(Dragon pattern), and Yingshanhong(Azalea), drawing repeated applause and appreciative whistles.

A dance performed by local students, Jasmine Flower demonstrated Malagasy youth’s interpretation of Chinese dance. The song Yelaixiang (Night Jasmine) accompanied by guitar infected the audience and the audience waved their hands with the melody of the song. A paragraph of the Huangmei Drama, Happy Couple Back Home performed by two Chinese beginners won unanimous applause from the audience.

During the performance, the members of the visiting Chinese troupe interacted with local students, enhancing friendship among youth of the two nations.
