On November 10, 2012 – the Confucius Institute at the Free International University of Moldova, where I am currently teaching, organized a Chinese Corner activity on the topic – Traditional Chinese Festivals. The event was attended by students from the Free International University of Moldova, The State University of Moldova, as well as by Chinese business men.

During the event, the Confucius Institute teacher made a brief presentation about the Traditional Chinese Festivals, and focused on the origins of the Mid-Autumn Festival, told the audience about Chinese people custom to eat moon cakes, worship the moon, and put light lanterns during the Mid-Autumn Festival Day. Confucius Institute students performed the Chinese drama and “Traditional Chinese festivals - the Mid-Autumn Festival ", which received a warm welcome from the audience.

The teacher introduced some typical words, the characteristics of which describe the characteristics of Chinese culture. Sentences were subtly taught throughout explaining and practicing. Also during this event, students have learnt to sing classical poetry, thus actively exploring the Chinese corner diverse and lively learning process which had the effect of introducing them more deeply into the Chinese culture.
