Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters Participates in the 64th Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany

October 10, 2012 - The 64th Frankfurt Book Fair opened at Frankfurt Exhibition Center. As the world’s largest and most influential book fair, the Fair attracted more than 7,300 exhibitors and 300,000 visitors from 120 countries all over the world this year.

On the day when the book fair opened, Jing Wei, Deputy Director-General of Hanban and Deputy Chief Executive of Confucius Institute Headquarters and Mr. Holger Volland, Vice President of Frankfurt Book Fair cut the ribbon for the Hanban exhibition stand. On that day, the Hanban exhibition stand held a launch ceremony for the teaching materials including “Chino”, “Chinese Textbook for Hungarian”, “Chinese New Target– New Edition” and “Teaching Pack on Chinese Language & Culture for Transitional Year”, etc. In addition, Hanban also cooperated with Joint Publishing HK to hold the signing ceremony for copyright assignment of the “Five Thousand Years of Chinese Characters” (Traditional Chinese Edition) and with Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press and ZNATOK, Russia to hold the signing ceremony for copyright assignment of “Everyday Chinese” (Russian Edition).

In this exhibition, Hanban exhibited the main Chinese teaching materials of 25 European languages including English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Italian and Portuguese, etc. that were developed in recent years, as well as more than a hundred local teaching materials developed by European Confucius Institutes. The multi-language main teaching materials, quality Chinese culture and reference books including “Happy Chinese”, “Chinese Paradise”, “Learn Chinese with Me”, “Contemporary Chinese” and “Great Wall Chinese”, etc. were introduced as key books.
