Malagasy candidate promoted as first six in Chinese proficiency competition

News from the 11th Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students being held in China, a Malagasy candidate, Miss ISAIA HERIMIALY RATSIZAKAINA is promoted as first six in the competition.

ISAIA, 17 years ago, is now a second year Chinese major from Confucius Institute at University of Antananarivo (CIUA). ISAIA is very fond of Chinese language and culture. She is also a core member of the student art group of CIUA. ISAIA won the special award in the preliminary competition held in Madagascar.

In the second round of competitions held in Changsha, China, the enthusiastic and optimistic Malagasy girl student passed through various barriers with her profound Chinese knowledge and versatile Chinese culture skills, and won the round of six in the competition. She is the only African candidate who has ever won the round of six in the competition events.

The good news ignited the enthusiasm of students and teachers at CIUA. They shared the enjoyment via internet and phone calls. CIUA also published the news in local media as to arouse the interest in Chinese language and culture among local residents.
