Confucius Institute successfully held the 2012 Confucius Cup Martial Arts Competition
On June 22nd 2012, the 2012 Confucius Cup Martial Arts Competition was successfully held at Goodrich Primary School. The competition was organized by London Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine (CITCM) and the Confucius Classroom at Goodrich Primary School. The Mayor of Southwark Councillor Althea Smith delivered her opening remarks praising the organizers’ efforts to organize such a wonderful cultural event and wishing the competition a great success. Altogether 28 participants from Sunshine School at the Chinese Embassy and Goodrich Primary School joined the competition.
Following the excellent performance by Daniel and Rosa, who were the champion from last year’s competition, the competition started. The participants were divided into 4 groups based on their age and gender. Participants showed the very best that they have mastered from their martial arts class.
Mr Paul Hawks, Director of Kungfu School (Crawley), Mr Alan Paterson, Director of Kungfu School (Croydon), Master Zhang Qilong, Master Wang Kexin and Master Yu Jinping were among the judge panels.
After the competition, Ms Cathy Devlin-the deputy head teacher of Goodrich Primary School congratulated the participants on the great success of the competition and expressed her sincere thanks to all teachers who worked very hard to organize this competition.. The Mayor of Southward awarded the prizes and certificates to the contestants.
