Confucius Institute at Troy University Makes a Book Exhibition in Birmingham

Confucius Institute at Troy University (CIT) attended Chinese New Year Celebration held by Birmingham Chinese Festivals Association (BCFA) and successfully made a book exhibition at Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham on January 28, 2012. The celebration brought a real visual luxury for many Chinese and Americans by providing Chinese performances such as songs, dances and acrobatics and presenting Chinese culture –related information booths by different agencies and institutes such as Confucius Institute at Troy University.

The exhibition started at 11:00am and ended at 3:00pm. At the side of the hall, CIT’s booth was decorated with Chinese knots, red lanterns, and paper cutting works, calligraphy antithetical couplet, and CIT’s banner as well. Apart from the decoration, the most attractive thing is Chinese book exhibition; they were Chinese Language textbooks, learning cards, learning CDs or DVDs, Opera facial masks, pictures of famous sites in China.

During the exhibition, about 300 people visited the booth and showed great interest. All the visitors were offered fans, bookmarks, as well as CIT’s brochure. In the meantime, CIT staff patiently introduced Chinese language and culture and Confucius Institute at Troy University.

In this exhibition, CIT not only let more people get access to Chinese language and culture, but also made a successful promotion of Troy University, its partner university in China- Hebei Normal University of Science and Technology, and Confucius Institute at Troy University.
