CIUA First Chinese Director Decorated National Order

On November 15, 2011, President of the High Transitional Authority of Madagascar, Andry Nirina Rajoelina signed a decree to decorated Xiao Zhongmin, first Chinese director of Confucius Institute at University of Antananarivo (CIUA) with a national order of knight, in recognition of his remarkable merits during his term.

Xiao Zhongmin served as Chinese director of CIUA during November 2008 to February 2011. During this service, Xiao Zhongmin overcame difficulties such as hard life and unstable political status to lead the Institute, and made tremendous contributions to the education and culture exchanges between Madagascar and China.

Jiangxi Normal University as its partner university, CCIUA was founded in November 2008. Three years since its establishment, the reputation and influence of CIUA has kept growing. And it has gradually become a local mandarin learning center, Chinese culture and information center and Malagasy-Chinese cultural exchanges center. By the end of 2011, CIUA has established 14 mandarin teaching sites around Madagascar, with 4457 registered learners.
