On the afternoon of October 23, Confucius Institute at the University of Zambia successfully held the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) and a total of nine examinees took the HSK. It was the third test to be organized by Confucius Institute at the University of Zambia since its establishment just over half a year ago. Examinees were from more diverse sources than previous tests. There were not only students, faculty members and staff from the University of Zambia, but also businessmen and bank clerks etc. among the examinees. There were also three senior high school students.

Seventeen-year old Nana was the youngest examinee sitting the test. She is the daughter of the Vice President of the University of Zambia. Nana’s father has visited China many times due to his work. With his influence, Nana became fascinated by Chinese culture in her childhood. In June, she visited China for the first time to see her brother studying in Jilin Agricultural University. Her brother’s passing of the HSK Level 5 was a cause for Nana’s admiration. Beautiful natural Chinese sceneries and charming modern cities left a deep impression on Nana. After returning to Zambia, she worked much harder on Chinese with the hope of some day passing the HSK as his brother had and studying in China after graduating from the senior high school.

After the test, the Vice President of the University of Zambia also came to the examination room to meet with the examinees. He encouraged everyone to study hard and be active in taking the HSK so as to realize the dream of studying in China.
