Confucius Institute at Ricardo Palma University Participating in the 42nd Anniversary Celebration

July 1 is the 42nd Anniversary of Ricardo Palma University. As arranged by RPU, all the faculties have decorated their exhibition stands to show the achievements and specialties. The overall design of the booth by Confucius Institute and Faculty of Humanity and Modern Languages is full of Chinese elements, showing the unique charm of oriental culture, attracting a large number of teachers and students to it.

The celebration of this anniversary is unusual compared with the previous ones, for Rector Rodriguez has invited the Peruvian President Alan Garcia and other VIPs such as Ambassadors to Peru to participate in the ceremony. China's Ambassador to Peru, Mr. Zhao Wuyi was invited to attend the ceremony. Ambassador Zhao came to the booth of the Confucius Institute, greeted the teachers and students, shook hands with them and talked to them briefly.

The ceremony began at a quarter past ten. The teachers and students of Confucius Institute attended the ceremony with great excitement. Rector Rodriquez specifically mentioned in his speech the successful cooperation between RPU and Hebei Normal University, the establishment of the Confucius Institute and its impact on RPU. Ricardo Palma University has attached great importance to the development of the Confucius Institute at RPU. Professor Pan Bingxin, co-director of Confucius Institute was invited to the rostrum for the celebration ceremony.

President Alan Garcia delivered a speech at the ceremony, and together with the Rector, he cut the ribbon signifying the opening of the newly completed Teaching Building. Then President Garcia and other distinguished guests visited some of the classrooms in the building. According to the schedule of the university, Confucius Institute will be officially moved into the new building in August. The Confucius Institute is bound to show itself with a brand new outlook on the campus of Ricardo Palma University, providing a better service for the students of Chinese on and off campus, as well as for those in the Peruvian community who love Chinese language and culture.
