June 29, Confucius Institute at the University of Zambia (UNZA) signed a cooperation agreement with Mulungushi University in Kabwe, Zambia. Confucius Institute will send Chinese teachers to teach Chinese language and Chinese martial arts at the University. Mulungushi University will provide facilities and accommodation for teachers, recruit students and conduct promotional activities.

The signing ceremony was held at the Vice-Chancellor's Office. Vice-Chancellor and Chinese Director Mrs. He Yi respectively signed the agreement on cooperation in running schools. Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Chinese teacher, Mr. Wang Jinzhong witnessed this historic moment.

Mulungushi University is one of three public universities, also the youngest and most dynamic one in Zambia. In February this year, the Hanban’s show activities enabled students and staff there to appreciate fantastic Chinese art, especially the awesome martial arts. Vice chancellor was appealed to the stage to learn on the spot; he expected that they could set up Chinese course and martial arts class as soon as possible; today their wishes were finally realized. Mulungushi University is the first cooperating school outside the capital area. The establishment of this Chinese teaching site is significant in the less-than-one-year development of Confucius Institute at UNZA. It means that Chinese teaching goes out of Lusaka, towards the country.

July 7, Mrs. He Yi and Mr. Wang Jinzhong will go to Mulungushi University again to develop Chinese teaching and cultural promotions.
