Monrovia, May 21st, 2011—May 21st was a special day for the Confucius Institute at the University of Liberia, as it marked the first time that the Institute has attracted a total of 35 students to take the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) since its establishment. The examination venue was set up at the Institute’s Teaching Center. According to their Chinese proficiency level and the classes they had attended, the examinees were arranged to take the test in 3 rooms. During the examination, the principles of equity and justness were observed. After the test, the Institute organized a group of its teachers to mark the exam papers and carry out a survey among the examinees. The Institute received great support from Hanban for hosting the test, which marked a new milestone in the development of the Institute and will provide results that will help to guide the course of its Chinese education.
