On April 9th 2011, UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland successfully held the Chinese Proficiency Test (new HSK).

The new HSK is an internationally standardized exam that tests and rates Chinese language proficiency. It assesses non-native Chinese speakers’ abilities in using the Chinese language in their daily, academic and professional lives. With the increasing exchanges between Ireland and China in various fields, such as trade, culture, education and so on, the number of people who are learning Chinese are also increasing doubly. UCD Confucius Institute and the School of Business in UCD jointly set up an undergraduate degree course named "Business plus Chinese ". Chinese is a core module for the student. UCD Confucius Institute has organized many periods of evening course, and many students want to check their Chinese proficiency. So there are more and more students who’d like to take the Chinese Proficiency Test (new HSK) and who are in need of the HSK certificate. In aftermath of the first Chinese Proficiency Test (new HSK) in Dublin area for written and oral examinations last year, UCD Confucius Institute successfully held the third Chinese Proficiency Test on 9 April 2011.

A total of 23 examinees took the HSK examination in levels first to six. Some of them are the students of UCD, and some are the students of the evening courses of Confucius Institute. Two of them took part in the level five and level six which is the highest level of the new HSK. Those two candidates had been in China for several years, and their Chinese were excellent.
