Confucius Institute in University of Rome La Sapienza conducted Chinese cultural lectures on Spring Festival

In February, Confucius Institute in University of Rome La Sapienza conducted Chinese cultural lectures on Spring Festival, which covered Chinese architecture, customs, letters and poetry and many other aspects, welcomed by many Chinese learners and fascinators of Chinese culture in Rome.

On February 17th, Yuanxiao Festival, a traditional Chinese festival, lectures commenced. Dr. Li Min, Visiting Professor of University of Southern Denmark, Associate Professor in Chinese Academy of Beijing Foreign Studies University, gave a lecture named “Culture on Chinese traditional architecture”. Dr. Li presented the main characters of Chinese royal, garden and inhabitant constructions by easy-understood words as well as fabulous pictures and further for its cultural significance within the constructions.


On February 18th, Dr. Li Min presented another lecture named “ Traditional Festivals in China”, which created delighted atmosphere for Chinese traditional festival. Beginning from Chinese Spring festival, an essential festival for Chinese people, Dr. Li introduced the daily Chinese diet habit and ordinary activities that Chinese people did with pictures that Dr. Li personally took when she experienced in different places. Audience were impressed a lot by such a way of presenting the lecture.

On February 18th, Dr. Li Min presented another lecture named “ Traditional Festivals in China”, which created delighted atmosphere for Chinese traditional festival. On February 23th, Dr. Jiang Wenyan, Chinese director of Confucius Institute in Roland University, Hungary, Associate Professor in Chinese Academy of Beijing Foreign Studies University, gave a lecture named “ Magic Chinese Characters”, which reached a top for the series of lectures. As the most ancient and unique characters that are used still in modern times, Chinese characters carry a thick significance and fabulous stories within every letters.

On February 24th, Dr. Jiang Wenyan presented another totally different lecture named “That glass of wine in poems of Li Bai and Du Fu”. Guided by Dr. Jiang, audience experienced the charming world of Chinese poetry by reading the poems and feeling the surroundings of the two greatest poets in Chinese history.

The series of lectures were gifts that Confucius Institute in University of Rome La Sapienza presented to Chinese learners and fascinators of Chinese culture in Rome. Besides using easy-understood languages, we also arranged the interpreters to help learners and fascinators comprehend the content of the lectures. An overwhelming estimate was given to our lectures, some audience even telephoned to us to show their gratitude and hoped further more cultural lectures will be hold.

From these activities on, our Confucius Institute in University of Rome La Sapienza will endeavor on the work for promoting Chinese cultures, such as constructing experiencing class of calligraphy, Chinese movies Month and so on, in hope to content the requirement of Chinese learners and fascinators of Chinese culture.
