Confucius Institute at Troy University Celebrated Spring Festival with Baldwin Middle School Students

2 p.m., Feb 15th, 2011, Confucius Institute at Troy University(CIT) celebrated Spring Festival of the year of Rabbit with Baldwin Middle School Students, Montgomery. CIT members have gone through elaborate preparations from food provision, game organization to classroom decoration. The Spring Festival celebration was divided into three parts: paper cutting, calligraphy writing, and chopsticks using, along which awards were given.

Over 20 students were divided into 3 groups, each of which had a guiding teacher who instructed students. Students participated actively in those activities; one group was cutting papers, one was writing Chinese characters and the other one was using chopsticks to play games; along the process, students brought up many questions about Chinese culture, and CIT members answered patiently. After those games, students were invited to have a taste of Chinese traditional food, dumplings, spring rolls and fried rice, which greatly aroused students’ attention.

The Spring Festival Celebration concluded in a pleasant ambience, in which students not only got fine gifts but also had a further understanding of Chinese Spring Festival and cultivated a yearning for the long and mysterious Chinese culture.
