Artists giving Chinese folk music performance

France, on the eve of the 2011 Chinese Lunar New Year - Hundreds of teachers and students from several Montpellier high schools gathered at the Jules Guesde High School auditorium in spite of the freezing temperatures. They enthused over the performance by 4 Chinese folk musical artists from Paris. The auditorium was completely packed with students, many of them even standing in hallway or sitting on the steps.

A cheerful melody called "Jubilant" (Pinyin Xiyangyang) was played first to show the audience the unique charm of traditional Chinese folk musical instruments. In addition, these artists gave a detailed introduction to tranditional Chinese folk musical instruments and their performance skills as well as their cultural background in French. Out of curiosity, the audience asked various questions about musical instruments. The artists also gave them solo demonstrations with all the musical instruments.
