2010 Joint Conference for Confucius Institute Directors Held at Shandong University
Ji'nan, Dec. 13th to 14th-following the 5th National Confucius Institute Conference organized by Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters, Shandong University hosted the 2010 Joint Conference for Confucius Institute Directors with over 10 Chinese and foreign directors from Confucius Institutes established in France, Mongolia, South Korea, Australia and Netherland participating.
Focusing on "Exchange and Cooperation for Common Development", the attendees put an emphasis on study and implementation of the spirit of the 5th National Confucius Institute Conference and the 1st Working Conference of the Confucius Institute and mapped out plans for key areas of their future work. They also exchanged their experiences in regards to the construction of Confucius Institutes and discussed top issues related to the development of Confucius Institutes and other issues, such as further strengthening the role of Shandong University in supporting Confucius Institute development.
The attendees agreed that the conference was of great guiding significance to future work of overseas Confucius Institutes and hoped similar events would be held again. At the same time, they also thanked Shandong University for its support and expressed that with the support of the Confucius Institute Headquarters, they would work hard to further expand multilateral cooperation in accordance with actual conditions, joining hands to create a Confucius Institute system with some of the characteristics of Shandong University.
Following the conference, the attendees went on to experience Chinese culture at external bases of Hanban/Shandong University National Base for Research and Experience of Traditional Chinese Culture located in Nishan and Zaozhuang.
