Yong-in, Dec. 27th, 20110—warmth prevailed at the Confucius Classroom at Taesung Middle and High School, although snow and cold weather swept across South Korea. Ai Hongge, Education Counselor from the Chinese Embassy in South Korea paid a visit to the volunteer Chinese teachers of the school and had cordial talks with them to learn about their work and lives in this country.

Counselor Ai showed special concern for the lives of the volunteers and problems they might encounter in their work. The counselor stated that he would lend more support to the Confucius Classroom and pointed out the important role of “harmony, safety and unity” in the volunteers’ work. He encouraged the volunteers to serve as promoters, bearers and practitioners of Chinese language and culture. The talk proceeded in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. The counselor’s folksy manner made the volunteers feel at ease and they shared their feelings and experience with the “Big Papa” coming from the motherland. Finally, Counselor Ai posed for photos with the volunteers.

The talk helped the young volunteers gain a deeper understanding of the meaning of “promotion and communication”, while sharing the glory and pride brought by Chinese language. After the talk, they stated they had become more determined to do their work well.
