5th Confucius Institute Directors’ Forum Kicks off
From Language Learning to Culture Exchange, a Chinese Fever Sweeps the World
CNTV (China News): The 5th Confucius Institute Directors’ Forum was held in Beijing on Dec. 11th. Representatives from more than 300 Confucius Institute all over the world attended the event.
The “Confucius Institute” is no stranger to both Chinese and foreigners. Many foreigners come into contact with Chinese culture and language through Confucius Institute as a platform.
China seems mysterious to foreigners. In addition to their interest in Chinese culture, they also desire to learn the Chinese language due to China’s rapid development in the 21st century.
The Confucius Institute was launched in the US in 2006, offering both language and culture programs, which have enjoyed great popularity among students. From 2006 to 2010, the number of students for one semester increased from 50 to 800.
During the 5th Confucius Institute Conference, reporters found that a large number of directors spoke in Chinese. The directors stated that they learned to speak the Chinese language and fell in love with Chinese culture during the process of establishment of the Confucius Institutes.
