Southern USA Regional Conference of Confucius Institute Directors

Nov. 13-14, 2010, the Southern USA Regional Conference of Confucius Institute Directors was held at the Confucius Institute at Miami Dade College. Guohua Yan, Consul and Director of Education Office, Chinese Consulate General in Houston and 24 directors of Confucius Institutes of Southern USA were present at the conference. Consul Guohua Yan stated that this conference not only provided a stage to familiarize each other, exchange experience and improve together, but also was beneficial for the Chinese partners to accumulate cooperative experience on international education. In his conclusion, consul Guohua Yan pointed out that this conference was the preparation for the 5th world conference of Confucius Institute, and he also put forward that the Chinese teaching was basic and profound, stressed that CIs should fortify the exchange and cooperation in and out of schools, and hoped that directors can be creative, innovative and distinctive.

11 directors of Confucius Institutes did their work reports at the conference. Dr. Hong Xu, director of Confucius Institute at Troy University, and professor Xiaofeng Chen, deputy Director of Confucius Institute at Troy University, attended the meeting. Director Hong Xu introduced the work of CIT with full passion and vivid words, which deeply impressed many people. The conference was a great promotion of the exchange and development of Southern USA Confucius Institutes.
