CPPCC Chairman Jia Qinglin Delivers a Speech at Eurasian University and Visits Confucius Institute’s Photo Exhibition and Book Exhibition

Astana, at 5 p.m. on November 11th—accompanied by Zhanybek Karibzhanov, Deputy Speaker of Kazakhstan's Majilis (lower chamber of Parliament), Jia Qinglin, Chairman of the Chinese Peoples Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, paid a visit to Eurasian University and presented a speech entitled “Remain Good Neighbors, Good Friends and Good Partners Forever”. Chairman Jia spoke highly of the Confucius Institute at the university. “In December 2007, the first Confucius Institute co-established by the two countries was unveiled at Eurasian University, marking a successful example of cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two peoples. We believe that China-Kazakhstan bilateral relations will surely be pushed forward as the Kazakhstan youths who are capable of speaking Chinese and understand China’s national conditions and culture engaged in Sino- Kazakhstan exchanges and cooperation,” he said.

“The young people of the two countries are a vital force for promoting Sino-Kazakhstan friendship. I sincerely hope the young people will join their hands to shoulder the mission of inheriting the past and forging ahead into the future, contributing to the development of Sino-Kazakhstan relations and writing a new chapter in Sino-Kazakhstan cooperation,” Chairman Jia concluded.

Over 800 people, including members of Kazakhstan's Majilis, teachers and students from the university and the institute were present to hear the speech.

Before the speech, Chairman Jia Qinglin and other guests visited the institute’s photo exhibition and Chinese teaching material exhibition. The institute directors of both sides gave introductions to their teaching and other activities carried out over the past 3 years. Following the visit, Chairman Jia encouraged the directors: “You must continue to work hard to make the Confucius Institute a big success.”
