Confucius Institute at the University of Malta Opens Diploma Course

Oct., 2010---A Diploma Course authorized by Hanban was opened at Confucius Institute at the University of Malta this year.

Malta has offered a Diploma Course for the first time. The course is divided into language and culture segments, with a total of 8 subjects and 60 credits offered in evening classes over the course of two years. Diplomas will be presented after completing all the courses required by the Confucius Institute at the University of Malta. 18 students have already registered in the course this semester, a higher number of students than any other diploma courses opened in the same semester. Offering this diploma course is a mark of the significant progress made in the promotion of the Chinese language by the Confucius Institute at the University of Malta.

The Confucius Institute at the University of Malta has not only opened a variety of different university courses, but has also has set up a recruitment system for students. In addition, they are working in cooperation with the Permanent Education Centre of the Ministry of Education in Malta, and the Chinese Civilization Centre. Furthermore, the Confucius Institute has plans to set up an undergraduate degree program, which is expected to commence in 2012.
