9th Oct. 2010 is a day when the Autumn sun is shining in Poland. On this day a weekend Chinese calligraphy lecture for the new students from Confucius Institute is going on at the beginning of the new academic term in a classroom of the Confucius Institute at Adam Mickiewicz University, Poland.

The lecturer is Mr. Fu Haifeng, a young Chinese calligraphist, who provided his Chinese Calligraphist Works Exhibition and relevant lectures and practicing lessons in Poland invited by UAM Confucius Institute in February this year. In the weekend Chinese calligraphy lecture series Mr. Fu Haifeng will systematically teach about Chinese calligraphy including knowledge about Chinese characters, Chinese “Four Treasures of the Study”, writing skills, etc. and the students will learn about Chinese calligraphy theoretically and practically through the lectures. This is a new attempt by Confucius Institute at UAM to provide such weekend Chinese calligraphy lecture series at the beginning of the new term, aiming at promoting students’ curiosity and interests in learning Chinese language and Chinese culture.


The participants are listening with curiosity

More than 50 students from the Confucius Institute and some Chinese lovers participate in the lecture. The participants listen carefully to the lecturer and put forward questions from time to time with great curiosity on the art of Chinese calligraphy. They also practice wrtiing Chinese characters with the ink stick, ink stone, brush, paper and copybook of calligraphy provided by the lecture, with great pleasure. The classroom is filled with laughter.
