Thai Confucius Classrooms Celebrate Chinese National Day

Xinhuanet, Bangkok, October 1st, by Shi Xianzhen—in the past few days, a number of Confucius Classrooms in Thailand have held activities in celebration of the 61st anniversary of the founding of the Peoples Republic of China.

On 1st, the Confucius Classroom at Nawamintharachinuthid Horwang Nonthaburi School hosted a reception and some 200 people including principal of Horwang Nonthaburi School, volunteer Chinese teachers from the central and western regions of Thailand, teachers and students from the classroom’s partner schools as well as parents were invited to the event.

The teachers and students dressed in Tang suits or cheongsam, adding to the festive atmosphere of the occasion. Together with the parents, they staged excellent performances, such as lion dances, folk songs and dances, folk music and serial songs. The reception concluded with the singing of “Today is Your Birthday”.

Chinese Director of the Confucius Classroom Fan Xiaojie stated that this was the first time for the classroom to invite the students and parents to celebrate National Day. In addition to the reception, it will also hold a 2-day “Greeting National Day” Chinese summer camp aiming to help Thai students learn Chinese language through practice and learn more about China.

On 1st the Confucius Classroom at Traimit Wittayalai High School, located in the Chinatown area of Bangkok, capital of Thailand, hosted a 3-day Celebration of National Day—Chinese cultural experience activity, showcasing Chinese tea ceremonies, calligraphy, Chinese-Thai bilingual textbooks and Chinese cultural books in the Chinatown Museum.

On September 29th, the Confucius Classroom at Phuket Wittayalai School located in the southwest of Thailand, hosted a reception for volunteer Chinese teachers. Pang Li, Hanban representative in Thailand was present for the occasion and expressed her thanks to the volunteers for their hard work.
