Belgrade, on the evening of September 27th—after nearly half a month’s careful preparation by the Confucius Institute in Belgrade an evening gala entitled “Reciting and Singing—Celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival and Greeting National Day” was held at No. 13 Middle School. The institute’s Foreign Dean, Prof. Radosav Pusic, Chinese Dean Prof. Chen Yudong, No. 13 Middle School’s headmaster, Mr. Vuckovic, teachers and students from the institute and the middle school watched the performance.

The gala began with the song “The Moon Represents My Heart” by students of Chinese language from the University of Belgrade. The Serbian poem “Waterfront and Moonlight” fully expressed the Serbs’ love for the moon. Volunteer teachers worked with Serbian students in reciting the Chinese poem “Thinking of You”. Mr. Li, a teacher from the Communication University of China demonstrated Chinese calligraphy. The performances, which were excellent, drew rounds of applause from the audience and stimulated students’ interest in Chinese culture. Songs, dances and poems blended the full moon and gatherings with patriotic feelings and Sino-Serbian friendship.
