Chinese Embassy in the Philippines Celebrates Teacher’s Day

Manila, September 10th—to celebrate the 26th Teacher’s Day and greet Chinese teachers working in the Philippines; the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines hosted a party at the Legend Hotel Manila. Diplomats from the embassy, major members of the Filipino-Chinese Community, as well as 150 Chinese volunteer teachers teaching in metropolitan Manila area, teachers and supervisors from local Confucius Institutes attended the party.

Chinese Ambassador Liu Jianchao, Cultural Counselor Chen Yongshan and Ye Fangfeng, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. delivered speeches for the occasion.

In his speech, Ambassador Liu Jianchao praised the teachers for their contributions in promoting Chinese culture and Sino-Philippine friendship highly. He also encouraged them to continue to work hard and achieve greater successes in Chinese education.

At the party, there were teachers from all regions of China that gave excellent performances with a strongly local flavour. In a warm atmosphere they exchanged what they had learned and gained from their teaching experiences.

At present, there are nearly 400 volunteer teachers and supervisors which have been sent by Hanban and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council that are teaching in schools all over the Philippines.
