Liu Yunshan Visits the Confucius Institute at Kazakh National University

On the afternoon of September 3rd—accompanied by Zhou Li, Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Mr. Liu Yunshan, Member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee, Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, Propaganda Minister of the CPC Central Committee, led a delegation in visiting the Confucius Institute at Kazakh National University and presented a number of Chinese books to the school.
Mr. Liu Yunshan first met with Prof. Bakhytzhan Zhumagulov, Rector of Kazakh National University and enjoyed a welcome performance given by the Confucius Institute. A variety of performances were presented, these included the Chinese song “Primrose”, Chinese folk dance “Jasmine Flower” and Dombra song; they won rounds of warm applause from the audience. In particular, a segment from Beijing opera “The Red Lantern” performed by two students of the Confucius Institute pushed the event to a climax.
After listening to a work report from Assilbekov Rakhymzhan, Director of the Confucius Institute, Mr. Liu pointed out that relations and cooperation in all fields between China and Kazakhstan have developed rapidly in recent years. The Confucius Institute has made great contributions to the promotion of Chinese teaching in this country as well as cultural exchanges between the two countries. Mr. Liu made inquiries to Chinese Dean Zhang Jianfang about the lives and work of Chinese teachers in Kazakhstan and encouraged the teachers to continue to work diligently and further contribute to cooperation and exchange between the two countries.
