Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters Appears at 17th Beijing International Book Fair
Beijing, August 30th to September 3rd--the 17th Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) was held at China International Exhibition Center with 1,841 publishers, both domestic and from 58 countries, gathered in Beijing.
Hanban/the Confucius Institute Headquarters first set up 4 exhibition areas at the BIBF; to introduce Confucius Institutes, showcase Chinese teaching materials as well as demonstrate lessons, and help visitors to experience Chinese culture. It focused on displaying the development of Confucius Institutes all over the world, its famous initiatives and latest achievements in the development of teaching materials. Visitors were allowed a real taste of teaching and extracurricular activities from Confucius Institutes abroad through multi-media interaction, cultural experiences, a teaching material exhibition and a simulation classroom.
The book fair is co-sponsored by the General Administration of Press and Publication, the State Council Information Office, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Culture, the Beijing municipal government, the Publishers Association of China and the Chinese Writers’ Association, and undertaken by the China National Publication Import and Export (Group) Corporation of the China Publishing Group Corporation. As a grand gathering for publishers from all over the world, the BIBF is now considered one of the top four International Book Fairs globally and has become an important platform for Chinese culture going worldwide.
