Hanban Signs Strategic Cooperative Agreement with NP&M

Shenyang, August 18th – Hanban and Chinese Northern United Publishing & Media (Group) Company Limited (NP&M) signed a Strategic Cooperative Agreement on the Cooperative Development of the Publication of National Chinese Teaching & Learning Resources during the opening ceremony for the 10th International Conference on Teaching and Learning Chinese. Some important guests, including Xu Jialu, Chairman of the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching, Chen Zhenggao, Governor of Liaoning Province, Xu Lin, Director-General of Hanban, Zhang Jiang, Member of Standing Committee of CPC Liaoning Provincial Committee and Chief of Department of Propaganda of Liaoning Provincial Committee, Yan Feng, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of Liaoning Provincial People’s Congress, Teng Weiping, Deputy Governor of Liaoning Province and He Min, Vice Chairman of CPPCC Liaoning Provincial Committee, attended the signing ceremony.

For the purpose of implementing the “Going Abroad” national strategic measure, Hanban and NP&M have signed the strategic cooperative agreement and engaged in mutual consultation to build up a brand new platform for the Going Abroad strategy.

According to the agreement, NP&M will, in accordance with the requirements of Hanban, organize experts from home and abroad to develop multimedia, multilingual Chinese teaching materials and Chinese cultural reading materials for foreign Chinese learners. The two sides will also work together on projects such as: the establishment of training centers for global Confucius Institute teachers and foreign Chinese teachers, organization of international language expositions, adaption of outmoded teaching materials, compilation of new teaching materials, merging of publishers in European and American regions as well as worldwide promotion of cultural and public products etc.
